Trump pushes back on U.S. soldiers’ brain injuries: “They had a headache?”

Former President Trump on Tuesday referred to brain injuries more than 100 U.S. Troops sustained in an Iranian attack on a base in Iraq as “headaches.”

The latest: The Harris marketing campaign, in an emailed announcement at the hours of darkness Wednesday, referred to Trump as “undeserving to be Commander-in-Chief” over the remarks, which echoed remarks he made in the wake of the January 2020 attack on the base.

Driving the news  The Republican presidential nominee made the remarks after being asked Tuesday if he believed he “ought to be harder on Iran” following the assault.

  • “What does injure imply? Do you mean because they’d a headache? Because the bombs never hit the fort?” Trump stated.

Zoom out: Trump said to the reporter that “nobody has ever been tougher on Iraq than me”, in an apparent reference to Iran.

  • They had no money. Hamas had no money. They had no money to give Hezbollah. When we hit them, then they hit us. “They called us and said that they were going to fire at your fort, but they weren’t going to hit it,” Trump said.
  • “And if I were a true reporter, which I am not, then you would say that none of those missiles, even though they are very accurate, hit our fort,” said the man. “They all struck outside and nobody was hurt except that the sound was loud, and some people complained that it hurt. I accept that.”

Of note: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) noted throughout his vice presidential debate with Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) that after the 2020 attack passed off Trump “wrote off” the troops’ accidents as “complications.”

What they’re saying: Morgan Finkelstein, a national protection spokesperson for the Harris marketing campaign, stated via e-mail that as U.S. Troops “are in the Middle East supporting Israel in the face of Iran’s assaults, Donald Trump is insulting injured provider participants. He is undeserving to be Commander-in-Chief.”

Representatives for Trump no longer straight away respond to Worldinfoblog requests for remarks.
